From Wikipedia - The Cinematics are an alternative rock band from Scotland, originally from the small Highland town of Dingwall - near Loch Ness - and currently based in Glasgow. The original line-up of Scott Rinning (vocals, guitar), Adam Goemans (bass), Ramsay Miller (guitar) and Ross Bonney (drums) formed in Glasgow in late 2003, although they already knew each another from school in their hometown. The band were signed to TVT Records in 2005 after playing at an "In the City" showcase gig in Manchester. Their debut album A Strange Education was produced by Simon Barnicott (Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Editors, Kaiser Chiefs) and Stephen Hague (New Order, Blur, Pet Shop Boys), and released on March 6, 2007. Later in 2007, they released their Live Sessions EP, which was available for download exclusively on iTunes. The band has, to date, enjoyed success predominately in the USA and continental Europe. In early 2008, it was reported that TVT Records was suffering financial difficulties and was forced to file for Chapter 11/Bankruptcy.
