About The Delta 72
The Delta 72 began in 1994 in a basement in Wahington d.c . Gregg Foreman and Ben Azzara went to a Pawnshop and bought a Farfisa organ , and showed another housemate how to play some notes on the organ . Sarah Stolfa joined the line up . The band played their first show at the "More than a Music Festival" , somewhere in Ohio . Soon after , the band recruited local ex - Cupid Car Club bassist ; Kim Thompson . The band released the 1st 7" on Dischord/Kill Rock Stars ( the sole split on these labels) , and they toured the u.s . After getting some attention from labels , Ben left , and the band recorded 'The R&B of Membership" on Touch and Go , w/Jason Kourkounis(Mule)on drums . The band toured with Sonic Youth , Girls against Boys , Modest Mouse , The Donnas , Brainiac and Man or AstroMan . Then Kim left , and bassist Bruce Reckhan added his sound to the Bob Weston recorded ; "The Soul of a New Machine" . Soon after this Sarah Stolfa left to pursue photography , and Goats organ grinder ; Mark Boyce filled the line up out for the Royal Trux produced "000" . Mainly due to some inner band problems . Jason went on to play with the Hot Snakes , Burning Brides and Scout Niblet . Bruce went on to play in local Phila bands . To my knowledge Mark Boyce joined some touring bands , and moved to L.A . Ben Azzara started a label and lives w/ his family in D.c . Gregg Foreman joined Cat Power, and continues to d.j(miami,Back Door Bamby, Plastik Fantastik.NYC,Misshapes,Ruff Club.Philadelphia,Hands and Knees) and do remixes with John Redden(Hands and Knees) .
