Artist Bio:

SPOKANE release eMusic retrospective, Rick Alverson pens essay POSTED BY Legacy on March 5th, 2008 Emusic.com has launched a free, 11-song SPOKANE retrospective, A Small Commotion. The tracks selected represent Spokanes 9 year, unwavering dedication to a music that explores that fragile, emotional stillness so often marginalized by an American cultural addiction to the overt and ostentatious. These songs present a cohesive sampling of the bands 5 records to date released by the seminal, anarchic Indiana label Jagjaguwar. Since the release of SPOKANEs Little Hours in August of 2007, Rick Alverson has kept pretty busy. Hes toured, built a house, and, for a very short time, worked as an extra on HBOs upcoming epic 7-part mini-series event, John Adams. The latter inspired Alverson to write A Half Dozen Dead Horses And I: Two Days As An Extra. Stripping away any notions of Hollywood glamor, the essay presents the experience with the same blunt humanity that is the trademark of Alversons lyrics. Read the essay, and watch for his small-screen debut when the mini-series begins on March 16th.[Read More]
