Artist Bio:
Kalle Wainio began writing and performing songs under the pseudonym 'Kalle Mattson' in late 2007 at the tender age of 17. Kalle was joined in early 2008 by local musicians Rory Lewis (guitar) and Patrick Larkin (drums) expanding Kalle Mattson from a Bob Dylan influenced solo act into an experimental rock trio. In July 2008 Kalle Mattson went into the studio to record their first self released EP entitled ' Telescope'. Telescope's release coincided with rave reviews (4/5 stars in Northern Rocks Magazine, Vol. 4), a performance at Rotaryfest's Second Stage with Canadian folk legends the Cowboy Junkies, and the selling out of all 150 limited edition discs in six short months. After countless shows in Sault Ste. Marie and surrounding area, Kalle Mattson returned to the studio in January of 2009 working with local powerhouse Mark Gough (Winner of Best Engineer at 2009 NOMFA's) engineering and mixing the project and resident bass player Frank Deresti lending his skills. The result of this collaboration is a new 11 song disc entitled 'Whisper Bee' which expands and improves even further on Kalle Mattson's original folk, experimental, pop blend.[Read More]
