The Chelmsford four-piece have been at the centre of Essexs blossoming music scene over the past year, hosting packed, dancefloor-decimating clubnights at the Towns Barhouse venue, their Essex cohorts Esser and Magistrates among the many bands to have joined them.

Tribe is a perfect introduction to the quartet, where their infectious dance-pop bounces between subtle studio inventiveness and the sort of fuzzed-out electro-groove thats underpinned the bands live shows.

Cat House have kept things relatively low-key so far their Myspace reveals nothing but their music and a deliberate decision not to immerse themselves in Londons over-saturated music scene has seen them instead inject life into Chelmsfords once non-existent live music scene. The band play live monthly at their club night High Off The Dancehalls at Barhouse, the venue-cum-label that they have such a good relationship with theyve struck a deal to release their first two singles. Indeed, Barhouse shares the same sort of enthusiasm as the four-piece for reinvigorating Chelmsfords once-vibrant music scene, something Cat House felt so strongly about that Tribes b-side, Shake The Walls, was written as the bands first song a year ago as an ode to a music scene that was non-existent. A year on and the region has begun to rediscover the musical swagger that saw The Prodigy and Blur, two of the 90s biggest bands, emerge from it.

Cat House have just moved into their very own studio space in a barn on the outskirts of Chelmsford, where they are currently recording their second single.
